Not too long ago I wrote a post about how desperately I needed a physical makeover. I may be a Stay At Home Mum but I am really tired of looking like the clichè. If you know me personally you know that I like to be organised and have a plan of attack. Since time is no longer on my side I have settled for a To Do List:
1. Book a gel pedicure and eyebrow wax every six weeks
Pretty toes make me happy. I can be in my pajamas all day but as soon as I look down and see neat and colourful nails it lightens my whole mood. I often leave my eyebrows unshaped for too long because it’s so light that its not really noticeable. Or so I think until I visit my beautician and magically get transformed! So no more waiting three months to wax my eyebrows. – DONE

2. Lose the mum bun.
My hair hadn’t been cut in over six months and besides being in a terrible condition, the greys were fast winning the majority battle. I desperately needed a cut, colour and treatment. – DONE

3. Be mindful of what I eat.
I have a strong affection for carbs. I could eat toast and jam or toast and avo or toast with peanut butter and honey for every meal. The problem is that I was eating way too many carbs PLUS a lot of junk food and the effects are showing. I’m much too lenient on myself when it comes to food stuff but the truth is that I eat more out of boredom than hunger and that’s not good. What’s worse is that I have noticed that my eldest has started doing this as well. Major wake up call. So my plan is to
- Up my water intake
- Have a filling breakfast of jungle oats and a cup of black coffee to keep me functioning
- Avoid pasta, rice and bread
- Eat more veg and less fruit
- Snack only if I’m actually hungry and only on raw veg
I’m not going to be militant about it because that approach never works for me but I am going to stick to this whenever I am at home (which is 90% of the time) – IN PROGRESS
4. Be more active.
This is really important to me. I want to encourage our girls to be more physically active. To do this I need to make activities available to them. Plus I have a gym membership that is gathering dust. I’m going for two more chiropractic sessions to work on my back issues and then I’m going to start slowly with a little bit of exercise every day. Right now I’m too terrified of pulling a back muscle again so I’m not doing anything more strenuous than following my 10.5 month old around as she explores. – INCOMPLETE
5. Learn how to apply make-up.
This is something that I have never bothered with. The most I will use is eyeliner and face powder. (My Instagram selfies will attest to both my lack of eyebrows and raccoon circles around my eyes 🙈) If it’s a special occasion I might apply some mascara. I’m not a fan of make-up (foundation, eyeshadow etc) but I have come to the realisation that there can be a middle ground between clown make-up and me. I will never be the type to use foundation and eyeshadow every day because a) I have no time and b) I touch my face and rub my eyes so often that I will look quite terrifying by 10am. But there is a time and place for a made up face. Not to mention the boost in confidence from knowing that you look good. This step is quite exciting because I will be teaming up with a beauty blogger for a shopping expedition and a make-up lesson. Watch this space! – INCOMPLETE
6. Wardrobe overhaul.
I have a lot of clothes. Yet I use the same things every week almost on rotation. My husband describes my wardrobe as a cross between China Mall bargains and an Indian Aunty. Sadly he’s not wrong. I hate shopping so if I like something I generally buy all the colours available then call it quits and go home. If my style had a category it would be Loose and Cheap. Oh look, my style sounds like a prostitute. That can’t be good. Anyway, I clearly need a style injection. I’m yet to work out how to go about this. – INCOMPLETE
And that is more or less my plan. I’m giving myself until the end of the year to get my life together. Wish me luck!

This could’ve been written by me, everything is identical!!! Def following your journey and taking some inspo for my own journey 🙂 Thanks for sharing

I finally got my hair done yesterday after several months of putting it off and it feels so nice! You never think you are going to be the mom who throws self-care out of the window until it happens!

I know right?! You actually don’t even realise how much you dropped the ball until you start making improvements 🙈🙈
